OUTSIDER ART: EUROPEAN PERSPECTIVES conference at the Ateneum Hall, Helsinki, Finland 17 June 2011.

European experts will be to giving speeches and discussing the traditions and history of outsider art in Eastern Europe in the backdrop of beautiful Helsinki in the summertime. The conference will bring together various Eastern and Western European cultural partners who promote outsider art and recognise the importance of its traditions. The conference offers interesting lectures, panels, discussions and meetings.

The conference Outsider Art: European Perspectives deals with current issues such as the definition of marginal art and its commercialisation and institutionalisation. Lecturers and experts in their field include the outsider art expert Roger Cardinal from Kent, art brut specialist Laurent Danchin from Paris, Professor Colin Rhodes from Australia as well as Anna Yarkina from Moscow, Sigrid Saarep from Tallinn Ivana Bašičević from Belgrade, Leszek Jodliński from Katowice, and also German collectors Volker Dallmeier and Elke Zimmer.
